Kingswood Baptist Church was founded in 1958 as the new
town of Basildon was in the early stages of development.
Christians from Baptist Churches in Southend on Sea, under
the auspices of the Essex Baptist Association, recognised the
opportunities and need.

members but struggled to go beyond that until 2002 when a
new phase of growth began. In the last few years there has
been growth in all areas, the membership being over 120 in
number and the attendance more than that. Many have come
to faith and been baptised and people of about sixteen
nationalities worship with us regularly.
We have growing and active work amongst children and young
people and are looking to God for further growth in numbers
and maturity.
